The Basic Court Skopje I holds a new hearing in the Kumanovo terror case, which was hampered by organizational problems due to the large number of defendants. Today's hearing is expected to be held in the large hall of the Supreme Court, as other courthouses were unable to seat the 29 terror defendants and the eight persons charged with providing logistical support to them.
The defendants are charged with being part of the large group of armed insurgents that took up positions in the city of Kumanovo a year ago, and was allegedly planning terror attacks in order to spark a wider ethnic confrontation in the country. During the police action to detain the group, 10 of its members and Kosovo born commanders were killed, as were eight police officers.
