The Democratic Party of Albanians (DPA), one of the two largest parties that represent ethnic Albanian interests in Macedonia, said that the announced withdrawal of its chief political rival DUI from the Government represents the height of hypocrisy.
DUI (Democratic Union for Integration), which has been part of the Government for most of the past 14 years, announced it is withdrawing its ministers on Thursday evening, a week ahead of the date when the Parliament is set to dissolve, in order to pave way for the early elections on June 5.
"Ali Ahmeti and DUI have not given any explanations on why they are leaving the Government. Ahmeti has added hypocrisy to treason, corruption and organized crime as values he tries to sell to the voters as patriotism", said Orhan Ibraimi, DPA's member of Parliament.
DUI's move raised the question whether there will be a procedure to elect a new Government, merely replace their members in the Government, or go ahead with the same cabinet, whose main role is to organize the elections anyway.
Hari Lokvenec, a SDSM lawmaker, also said that DUI should explain why they took this step.
