By stating that there will be elections whenever he decides it is time, it is becoming clear that SDSM leader Zoran Zaev does not want to face the people and that he considers this country his wilderness, political analyst Sotir Kostov said.
"Zaev's statement shows that he considers Macedonia his jungle. It is obvious that he does not have the courage to face the voters and that he wants to rule without going to elections. His intention is to cause a permanent political crisis in a time when all economic parameters are showing that Macedonia is moving forward", Kostov stated for Telegraph.mk.
He pointed out that it does not matter whether the foreigners will allow Zaev another electoral postponement, he said it matters what the Macedonian people will say. In an interview for Austria's 'Der Standard', Zaev stated that there can be elections only when the State Election Commission (SEC) President says that all conditions for holding elections are met and when the Electoral Role is purged.
"If this happens in the fall, so can elections, and if this happens by the end of the year then elections can take place then, SDSM leader Zaev said for Der Standard.
But Zaev statement is quite contradictory, since the head of the SEC is Aleksandar Cicakovski, who is close to SDSM, stated that the commission is ready for elections. On top of that, SEC found no phantom voters, despite SDSM's opposite claims.
According to experts, the behavior of the international community is baffling because it tolerates Zaev's behavior with his endless postponement of elections and his undermining of the Przino Agreement, which can safely be pronounced dead.
Whether elections will officially be postponed will be clear by midnight when the deadline for submitting MP candidate lists expires. So far, only VMRO-DPMNE announced that it will submit candidate lists.
