The Greek islands, which are the first stop of the mass migration of Asia toward Europe, are seeing a largely decreased number of illegal migrants and refugees.

Only 700 refugees have arrived on the islands of Lesbos, Chios and Samos, which is more than the previous days but it is still less than two weeks ago. On Monday, 161 migrants arrived, while on Sunday, less than 20 people were registered.

However, the number of refugees arriving at the Piraeus port in Athens is getting higher. According to Wednesday data, there are around 5,745 refugees and migrants staying at the port currently. A ferry has arrived carrying only 15 refugees.

In the meantime, the number of tents set up near the port has reached 1,100. The Greek Migration Policy Ministry has decided to distribute leaflets among the refugees, informing them that those who are deemed migrants are to be transferred from the port to reception camps. The leaflets also contain advise they need to follow.
