The 56th Ohrid Summer Festival this year, in compliance with its years of reputation, will offer top concerts and theater plays.
“It’s a great honor and a privilege for me to have been appointed director of the Ohrid Summer Festival. As a musician who has performed many times at the festival, I am well aware that the Ohrid Summer Festival is one of the most prestigious cultural events not only in Ohrid and Macedonia, but also elsewhere in the region and beyond,” Oliver Arsovski, the new director of the institution, said in his first meeting with the press.
For years the Ohrid Summer Festival, he added, has established top artistic standards. In addition to the traditional festival program, more attention will be paid this year to its off-program , including jazz weekends, ballet performances, concerts by famous musicians, etc. Also, the new director plans to introduce certain cultural activities across Ohrid throughout the year – performances by church choirs on religious holidays, New Year’s concerts, etc.
“These events would be organized when Ohrid is going to be packed with tourists,” he said. Violinist Oliver Arsovski was the director of the Macedonian Opera and Ballet from 2007 to 2010. He is also famous for appearing as a judge in the Macedonian edition of the popular dance competition show Dancing with the Stars.
