Mircev: President's Abolition Declaration Was Not Fully Understood

The intention of President Gjorgje Ivanov to seize all procedures against politicians of the ruling and the opposition parties was not well understood. It is necessary the situation in these moments to calm down, said professor Dimitar Mirchev, commenting Wednesday's protests in the Skopje center.

"I believe the President's decision on the pardons has not yet been understood. It has been made in terms of seizing confrontation. All international messages go toward pacifying the situation, and what has happened does not go in that direction. All political actors and media need to call for pacification," pointed Mircev for Telegraf.mk

But SDSM's leader did not voice any messages to calm the situation. On the contrary, in a television interview Zoran Zaev did not exclude the possibility for a 'Ukrainian scenario' in Macedonia.

Ruling VMRO-DPMNE condemned the violence during the protests organized by SDSM activists, saying that with no conscience and care for the future of the country, Zoran Zaev clearly states there is solid foundation for a 'Ukrainian scenario' in Macedonia. The same scenario was announced by Verusevski and other affiliates.

European Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn, also called for calming the situation down. He believes that the crisis can only be resolved by political means. He is decisive that politicians have a responsibility to resume negotiations.
