It's impossible to increase production, to conquer other markets, to conclude deals with new partners, to carry out investment activities, etc, in the midst of a political crisis. Therefore, it is important to the business community to known when the political uncertainty is going to be settled, the Association of Chambers of Commerce said on Wednesday.
The crisis has to be solved somehow in order banks to resume their credit activities and companies to launch a fresh investment cycle, said Mitko Aleksov, executive director of the Association of Chambers of Commerce.
"This uncertainty cannot last forever, it must be resolved and we have to know when it is going to happen," stated Aleksov at a news conference.
According to him, Macedonia's economy has proven it can be tough after achieving positive performances in such circumstances, even though in certain aspects they failed to meet previous projections, including the one involving the GDP.
"A positive result of 3.7% was generated, even though 4% had been forecast," he noted.
Also, Macedonia registers a credit growth every year – a 10% growth was recorded in 2015 and the trend is expected to continue this year.
"The banking sector is careful not only because of the political situation, but also because of certain criteria on risk evaluation, including the creditworthiness of companies," stressed Aleksov.
