The Macedonian Economy Ministry informs that trade in agricultural products from Albania is continuing freely, but with stricter controls after information that some Albanian products may contain higher concentrations of pesticides than allowed.
Macedonian Food and Agriculture Agency was investigating eight trucks bringing agriculture products into Macedonia, four of which have already been cleared to enter Macedonia. Economy Minister Driton Kuqi was in touch with the Albanian Government over the situation. The Ministry informs that the CEFTA free trade agreement allows countries to ban or limit imports of agriculture products if there are suspicions that they contain too much pesticides and to submit the products to more detailed examinations.
