A construction worker has died after he had been buried under a landslide. The incident occurred around 11:00 am, while a team of workers were performing their duties on Maxim Gorky street, Telegraf.mk has learnt.
According to his colleagues, the person who died is 40-year-old I.A. who lived in the village of Martolci. The colleagues were in shock and were unable to provide details about what had actually happened. But neighbors who witnessed the accident told the news portal what they saw.
"For several days, the workers were engaged on arranging a house. Today they were getting ready to work on the facade. Suddenly, we could hear a loud sound resembling a crash of a mountain of earth and then silence. When we run out, people were trying to get to the body of the worker, but it was difficult," the neighbors of the nearby houses told the news portal.
The ambulance vehicle arrived quickly, but the doctors were unable to intervene because they could not dug out the body of the buried worker. Soon firemen came and attempted to get the body out for an hour, using diggers and shovels.
A team of the Interior Ministry's sector in Veles and a public prosecutor are making an inquiry at the scene of the incident.
