
The new prime minister of Iceland, Sigurdur Ingi Johansson, officially as of Thursday took office.
Johansson on Thursday sworn in before the President of the country and took the place of Sigmundur David Gunnlaugsson, who was forced to resign under the pressure of the scandal "Panama Papers".
Johansson, the former Minister of Agriculture and Fishing and vice president of the right-centrist party of progress, will perform the new position temporarily, until the early parliamentary elections scheduled for autumn.
