Macedonia: Consumer Price Index Increased by 0.1 Percent

According to the data of State Statistical Office of Macedonia, the Consumer Price Index in March 2016, in comparison with the previous month, was 100.1 percent, while the Retail Price Index was 100.2 percent.

The increase in the Consumer Price Index in March 2016, in comparison with the previous month, is a result of the higher indices of fresh or chilled fruit by 2.7 percent, eggs by 1.1 percent, dried vegetables, other preserved or processed vegetables, sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and confectionery by 0.5 percent, fresh or chilled fish by 0.3 percent, edible offal and other food products by 0.2 percent. 

In March 2016, in comparison with the previous month, there was also an increase of the indices of liquid fuels for household by 9.8 percent, photographic and cinematographic equipment and optical instruments by 6.5 percent, other services in respect of personal transport equipment by 3.0 percent, gardens, plants and flowers by 2.4 percent, spare parts and accessories for personal transport equipment by 2.3 percent, passenger transport by air by 1.9 percent, cleaning and maintenance products for the dwelling and package holidays by 
1.8 percent, liquid fuels and lubricants for household by 1.1 percent, cultural services by 1.0 percent, tobacco, telephone and telefax equipment and telephone and telefax services by 0.9 percent, household textiles by 0.6 percent, passenger transport by road by 0.5 percent, major household appliances, information processing equipment and electric appliances for personal care by 0.4 percent, small electric appliances by 0.3 percent, gas for household, other medical products n.e.c., services for personal care and personal care articles by 0.2 percent.

A decrease in the Consumer Price Index in March 2016, in comparison with the previous month, was registered in fresh or chilled vegetables other than potatoes by 1.4 percent, oils and fats by 0.9 percent, rice by 0.6 percent, milk and frozen fruit by 0.5 percent, non-alcoholic beverages by 0.4 percent and other meat preparations by 0.2 percent. 
In March, there was also a decrease of the indices of hospital services by 4.3 percent, carpets and other floor coverings by 1.8 percent and footwear by 0.4 percent. 

The Consumer Price Index in March 2016, in comparison with March 2015, registered a decrease by 0.4 percent, while the Retail Price Index decreased by 1.1 percent.
