Debar Mayor Ruzhdi Llata held a press conference to present his work in the past three years, saying that he has worked to give the mountainous town the character of a modern urban environment.
"We managed to overcome the problems with the outer neighbourhoods, where the citizens had no roads, sewage systems or running water. We paved thousands of square meters of streets in the villages, some of them are covered with asphalt, and I promise that, by the end of my term, not a single street will be left unfinished", Llata said.
The Mayor also spoke about the conversion of the central street into a pedestrian zone, that was supported by people from Debar living abroad.
"With the help of the Republic of Turkey, through their TIKA development agency, we built a new high school building, and with TIKA's help we will fully furnish the interior and the schoolyard. The high school will hold classes in Macedonian and Albanian for 800 pupils", Llata said.
Debar expects the opening of a new water bottling plant in the village of Gari, Llata said, and is looking forward to the work on reconstructing the road to Boskov Bridge.
