Supporters of Skendija and Skupi football teams have caused a havoc on Wednesday afternoon during the football match that was played at the Cair stadium between the Skupi and Sileks clubs, Telegraf.mk reports.
The so-called 'Ballists' and 'Smugglers' went into a fight that took place at the field, which cause the football game to be shortly interrupted, but the clashes, in which four police officers were injured, later continued outside of the stadium. The Interior Ministry's sector in Skopje informed that three people were arrested.
While the Skendija and Sileks teams were in the middle of the match, the Skupi supporters, a.k.a. the 'Smugglers' arrived, with the aim of causing an incident. Police officials say that the fight occurred between the 'Smugglers' and the 'Ballists', but its further development was prevented by the police officers deployed on the ground.
After the football match was over, the fight between the supporters continued outside the stadium, raging on the streets of the nearby neighborhoods.
The 'Smugglers' threw stones and bottles at the buses used to transport the 'Ballists'. In all that chaos, four policemen sustained injuries, while one of them was seriously hurt. The Skopje Interior Ministry sector says the police officers were not a target in the clash, but were hit by flying rocks and bottles.
In relation to the violent incident, three persons aged 21, 34, and 38 were detained, and a criminal charge will be pressed against them for violent and indecent behavior during a sports match.
Police are working on discovering and identifying the other participants in the fight.
