According to many, the city of Dubrovnik, located on the Croatian coast, is one of the most beautiful in the world. We would not believe it if we had not spent a few days in this beautiful tourist heaven.

A city rich in history, it will enchant you at first sight.
Dubrovnik was one of the rare cities that had not been separated from the Ottoman Empire.

According to some data, the city was formed in the 7th century A.D. From 1205 to 1358 Dubrovnik was ruled by the Venetian Republic, and from 1358 to 1808 Dubrovnik was a separate country, called the Dubrovnik Republic.

It is one of those coastal Mediterranean cities formed on the base of the old Hellenic culture. It was developing into a city with a civil management which had strived to be formed according to the reputation of Venice. On a social plan, there were the nobles and the commons. The city was managed by a doge, and there were the executive authorities (Malo Vijece), and the representatives of the people as the consulting authorities (Veliko Vijece).

But, whatever we write about this heaven on earth will be too little. A thousand page book is not enough to describe what this city carries within.

However, Dubrovnik has its price. It is one of the most expensive cities in the world. Most of the tourist you see in Dubrovnik are from Spain, America, Germany, Japan, etc.

So, if you want to grab a coffee at one of the most famous promenades Stradun, you would have to pay between EUR 3 to EUR 4 for a simple macchiato, and for the cheapest Croatian beer around EUR 5.
Food is even more expensive so if you intend going there on holiday, we recommend you go with a ‘thicker wallet’.

If you thought you will save by eating fast food in Dubrovnik, you’re wrong. Hamburger with a side of fries and arugula costs around EUR 10. Prices of pizzas go from EUR 8 and up, and ice cream around EUR 2 per scoop.
You are probably wondering about accommodation prices in Dubrovnik. If you want to stay in a hostel in the old city, the cost per person go from EUR 40, and up. If you choose an apartment, the prices vary from EUR 80 per person and up.

Dubrovnik has become even more popular worldwide after the shooting of the TV show Game of Thrones. We believe many of you know that some of the most famous scenes have been shot here, and ever since, the number of tourists has significantly increased.

Most souvenir shops sell the figurines of the main characters of the show. Also, scenes of the new Star Wars film have been shot, which will be released in 2017.

According to the latest statistics of Croatia, this country has been earning some EUR 12 billion annually from tourism, EUR 4 bn of which are coming from Dubrovnik.
