The Court has issued an 8 day detention measure against Zahir Bekiri Chaush, main suspect in 'Affairs Factory' case or the affair with the fake IDs and passports.
"The judge accepted the suggestion from the Public Prosecutor's Office and ruled an 8 day detention measure against Chaush, the Criminal Court confirmed for Telegraph.mk.
On Friday, the prosecution in charge filed a motion for detention against Chaush because he is suspected of committing 3 crimes and those are: production of materials intended for criminal activity and procurement of weapons, falsifying documents and misuse of personal data.
Currently, Chaush is serving time in Idrizovo prison for another crime.
On March 24 the police carried out an operation in an area in Skopje, during which 5 people were taken in, including Chaush's brother and sister. Chaush is the main suspect in the affair related to uncovering locations where fake IDs, passports and bank forms with names of ex and current top officials were printed and kept for future criminal endeavors.
In 7 searches conducted in Skopje and its surrounding area, as well as in Chaush's cell in Idrizovo, many weapons, laptops, cell phones, memory cards and documents were discovered.
Two cell phones were found in Chaush's cell, despite the ban which forbids prisoners to have mobile phones.
In his home, the police found a large amount of ammunition, a rifle, gun, print press, hard drive-whose contents are still unknown, and printed documents. In initial searches conducted at his home in December of last year, over 70,000 wiretapped conversations were uncovered and, according to the investigators, they were to be used as materials for blackmail of top businessman and politicians in Macedonia.
Chaush, as the investigation proved, was in constant communication with SDSM leader Zaev, as well as with the technical Interior Minister Spasovski who is also a top official in SDSM.
