Parliament on Tuesday, within the 105th session , discussed the proposal to initiate proceedings for determining the responsibility of the President of Macedonia Gjorge Ivanov, filed by opposition MPs.
Ruling party MPs reiterated their position that President Ivanov, with the given pardon did not violate the Constitution and laws of the state and has the utmost confidence of citizens.
Marjanco Nikolov from SDSM expressed dissatisfaction because Ivanov is not present in the Assembly. According to him, Ivanov ruined his own reputation with the abolition, crashed the institution president and undermined the fundamental values of the Constitution, such as rule of law and equality of citizens before the authorities.
He added that Ivanov with the abolition has awaken the citizens, who, as he said, want justice, freedom and democracy.
Jasminka Damceska an MP from VMRO-DPMNE noted that Nikolov says nothing genuine and legally supported.
"Ivanov is constantly attacked by you because he has strong positions, firmly treads and represents the Republic of Macedonia in the right light, both at home and abroad", Damceska said.
Ane Laskoska from VMRO-DPMNE noted that Ivanov did not violate the law and the Constitution.
"Ivanov is a man who has matured to deal with migrant crisis in the past period. If it was not Ivanov, Macedonia would have been flooded with refugees. All international actors gave Ivanov public recognition for his role in dealing with the refugee crisis", Laskoska said.
During the debate opposition MPs called for legislative, legal and political responsibility of Ivanov for his actions.
Parliament Speaker Trajko Veljanoski for Wednesday at 12 o'clock announced the 106th session. After its completion the MPS will continue the debate on 105th session.
