
The total of 23,260 children were born in Macedonia last year, of whom 23,075 were liveborn, and 185 were stillborn, the State Statistical Office announced Wednesday.
The number of liveborn babies in 2015, in comparison with the previous year, has been lowered by 521 child or by 2.2%.
The gender structure shows that male babies take up the bigger share of newborn children, i.e. 51.8%.
According to the month of birth, the highest number of babies were delivered in July - 2,176.
The average age of the mother stands at 28.7 years. Data indicate that when the mother's age is taken into consideration, the biggest share, i.e. 34.5% of the liveborn babies were delivered by mothers aged between 25 and 29.
In 2015, 13 liveborn babies were brought to the world by mothers younger than 15.
The number of illegitimate newborn babies stands at 2,530, or 11% of the total number of liveborn babies.
