Russian Solvay company, which operates the Sasa mine near Makedonska Kamenica, said that it has hired 30 new employees after its concession over the lead and zinc mine has been extended.
Maxim Prohkorov, Sasa manager for development and investment, said that company is currently training its 30 new, young employees.
"We will continue to follow this path toward adding new workers. We hope to encourage young people to seek work in our mine, without having to fear for their safety", said Prokhorov.
The mine employs over 700 people in Makedonska Kamenica, with additional 100 working through subcontractors. It is the main source of income for the town.
