The city of Skopje and the municipality of Aerodrom began the construction of three bridges over the Usje canal on Friday, that flows toward the Vardar River in Skopje's eastern suburbs.
Skopje city father Koce Trajanovski and Aerodrom mayor Ivica Konevski said that the bridges will be 10 meters long and eight wide, with pedestrian and car lanes.
"These bridges will significantly improve links in this part of Aerodrom, and will improve traffic safety, given that citizens were using improvised bridges for the past 50 years. The substandard links were a serious safety risk as well", Aerodrom municipality informed.
The bridges are expected to be built in three months, and will cost estimated MKD 8 million.
