Creating conditions for the implementation of changes in the energy sector in order to ensure continuous development and investment, was the topic of discussion at the meeting between the Minister of Economy Driton Kuci and Chairman of the Board of EVN Macedonia Stefan Peter. At the meeting, the Office of the Kuchi informed,Peter informed about the current investment in the reconstruction of existing and construction of new distribution network in order to improve the quality of the distribution and supply to consumers and accelerate the procedures for connecting the energy system for the companies as a prerequisite for doing business in the country. In this segment EVN has made a great progress, which is noted in the report of the Doing Business of the World Bank.
According to Minister Kuci, energy policy is one of the key segments, because without energy development, there is no development of the real sector, hence the focus of the Ministry of Economy is to create a regulation that will create conditions for development of the energy sector, especially before the upcoming strong structural reforms in the sector, therefore the cooperation between the Ministry of economy and the companies is essential.
Chairman of the Board of EVN Macedonia Stefan Peter said that EVN, as an important part of the energy sector continues to invest in the modernization and improvement of services in the segment of distribution and supply, which is one of the main preconditions for the implementation of reforms in the energy sector and better approximation to the EU standards.
At the meeting was discussed the current cooperation between EVN and the Ministry of Economy within the project "Platform for Energy Efficiency", in which both sides had series of activities aimed at greater promotion and application of energy efficiency. As recommended by the Energy Community, Macedonia should achieve energy savings of 9 percent by 2018.
