Economy Minister Driton Kuci met on Thursday with Sinisa Spasov, director of MEPSO energy transportation company, to discuss planned construction of interconnection power lines with Albania and Kosovo, as well as the adoption of socalled "soft measures" that are part of the Berlin process initiated by Germany.

Kuci and Spasov discussed preparations for the upcoming Paris summit, which is a continuation of earlier regional meetings in Berlin and Vienna, which were started by German Chancellor Angela Merkel with the goal of helping Balkan countries build up infrastructure and overcome political issues among themselves.

The Berlin process provides building interconnection power lines between Macedonia and Albania with the support of European financial institutions.

It also asks Balkan countries to establish power exchanges and a regional balancing market, to enable further investment in the energy infrastructure.

At a recent meeting in Paris European Commissioner Johannes Hahn warned that the countries have not yet implemented these "soft measures" that were provided in the process.
