The total of 150 audio books for the blind and those with impaired vision were promoted Thursday as part of a project on preparing 400 audio books for people with this condition.

Under the project, 340 audio books have been launched so far. The new audio books include works of poetry, classics, short stories and Macedonian literature, which are part of editions prepared by the Ministry of Culture.

Speaking at a news conference, Minister of Labor and Social Policy Dime Spasov called the project on promoting 400 audio books 'one of the most important projects ever implemented for blind people'.

The project is being realized for three years in a row, following a joint initiative of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, Ministry of Culture, National Association of the Blind and the media.

Another 400 audio books will be recorded in the coming period.

"Given that the project was widely accepted and after taking into consideration the requests made by blind people, especially students, we have decided to increase the fund of books set to be recorded and made available for the public," Spasov said, adding the project, implemented by the Ministry of Labor, was expected to be completed in 2017.
