National private-owned Telma TV has laid off 12 journalists, after the management has decided to cut expenses.
Among those fired are professionals with many years of experience - Panta Dzambazovski, Emilija Lazarovska, Tomislav Osmanli, Violeta Zajkova, Sonja Nikolovska, Julijana Lefkovska-Pesevska, PlusInfo news portal reports.
According to the news portal, the decision to dismiss the journalists was put at the bulletin board in the television's premises on Wednesday afternoon and the employees spotted the news by accident. PlusInof says, two journalists, who were declared manpower redundancy, were offered to take up a higher position but with a lower salary by a third of the current amount.
The trade union of Telma TV employees expects to hold a meeting with the management on Thursday, after which it will make an official statement for the public.
