Belgium to Hire More Policemen to Monitor Jihadist Posts Online

Belgian police will hire 30 additional officers who will follow and censor Jihadist internet posts which are spread through various Jihadist web pages, local media report.

Police have explained that currently, there are 10 officers working on this task. In Belgium, around 90,000 Twitter posts connected to IS are published daily.  The country hosts 46,000 subscribers to a micro blog, who are tagged as IS sympathizers, BTA reports.   

Since the start of the year, Belgium has established a unit within the framework of the federal police, which is tasked with the following the flow of data in relation to Jihadist propaganda online.

The so-called internet patrol have the right to remove and change internet publications. According to part of Belgian MPs , such undertakings call for warrants, but Interior Minister Jan Jambon announced that the internet patrol operations are within the legal frameworks.
