
From the project "Construction and equipping of 145 school gyms", 55 gyms were built on the whole territory of Macedonia so far, Deputy Minister of Education and Science Spiro Ristovski informed on Sunday.
“With these 55 gyms over 45,000 students are covered,who did not have sports area based on standards that these gyms offer. We are glad, that gyms were built in places that until recently did not have any other infrastructure facility in sports except terrain court. The investment of EUR 27 million is determined and proves to be true because the gyms are not used for the schools, but also for the citizens in the municipality”,Ristovski said.
He informed that at present seven gyms are under construction and by the end of this year an additional seven will be launched. According to him, the project should be completed in two to three years.
Part of the gyms are with an area of 650 square meters, and the other part with an area of 1,300 square meters. Each is fully equipped with sports equipment, locker rooms, showers and other auxiliary rooms, built by all standards.
In terms of further increasing the hours of physical education among students, when asked Deputy Minister informed that the Ministry is in process of analysis, in terms of whether a further increase in number of hours is needed.
According to him, more important is the quality of the implementation of physical education and in terms of that, the ministry as of September will increase the controls in schools.
