The death toll in Ecuador from Saturday's 7.8 earthquake rose Tuesday to at least 507 people, including 11 foreigners, the Ecuadorian authorities reported on Tuesday. So far, 499 of the deceased have been identified and their bodies have been returned to their families.
The 7.8 magnitude earthquake, according to Richter, also had a major impact on the work of one of the oldest newspapers in South America. For the first time in its 82 year long history, the newspaper 'Diario' did not come out on Friday due to lack of electricity for printing.
