Special Public Prosecutor's Office has opened new probe dubbed 'Fort' which is related to the illegal surveillance of communications with equipment that belongs to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Katica Janeva informed at a press conference on Wednesday.

The prosecutor Lence Ristivska said that the 'Fort' case is very complex.

The main suspects in the case are two chiefs from the Administration of Security and Counterintelligence in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, who overstepped their bounds and took advantage of their official position by destroying surveillance equipment which cost the state EUR 10 million. The first respondent G.G. intended to hide his accomplices by issuing an order to other organizational units in the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the destruction of the technical equipment because it was out-of-date.

Previously, the Special Public Prosecutor's Office demanded that the suspect G.G. be detained, as well as a search of his home to be conducted, but a Judge refused their request.

Special Public prosecutor Janeva announced at a press conference on Wednesday that the suspect G.G. has been summoned to Court at 01:00 pm for questioning.

'Fort' is the third case the Special Public Prosecutor's Office is looking into. The first is 'Titanic' which is about electoral irregularities, and the second is 'Torture' which has to do with the way Ljube Boskovski was arrested.
