Zvonko Kostovski, one of the suspects in the "Coup" case, who took a plea deal, and was sentenced to 3 years in prison for being an accomplice to Zoran Verushevski, had taken initiative himself to destroy the wiretapping equipment in 2013, online portal Press24 informed.
The portal also published the document where he explained that the equipment is incompatible with the new technology and needs to be destroyed.
"Regarding the wiretapping of the landline communications, with changing the landline network of "Makedonski Telekom" and introducing the VoIP-technology, an essential difference in the speech commutation is noticed, and by that, the access to the equipment of "Makedonski Telekom" is also changed.
At the moment, this type of access is not supported by the current technical system, so for many reasons the option to follow landline communications is no longer available. The current system does not include the remaining telecommunication operators offering landline services," read Kostovski's report, Press24 informed.
