Former Director of the Administration for Security and Counterintelligence (UBK) Saso Mijalkov has made a statement following the decision of President Gjorgje Ivanov for a general pardon of all procedures against politicians and their associates, connected to the wiretapping scandal and the political crisis.
Mijalkov is convinced in the good intentions of President Ivanov, but urged him to withdraw the pardons regarding his charges.
“I know I have worked honestly and consciously in the interest of the safety of citizens and my country. The procedures the Special Public Prosecutor’s Office (SPO) started, or is planning to start against me, have no legal base, but are solely based on a politically sparked persecution, contrary to the Constitution and the Laws,” Mijalkov said.
The former UBK Chief added that he did nothing illicit, and he believes that with the decision of the President, citizens will not have the opportunity to see the scenario that has been prepared in order to slander politically the influential figures of VMRO-DPMNE.
“I am convinced that the President Ivanov has the best intentions, but I personally ask of him to withdraw all decision for abolition regarding my cases,” Mijalkov urged.
Just as a reminder, President Ivanov, despite the demands and protest to revoke his decision, informed that he had made it to put an end to the crisis which goes for too long in Macedonia, and for all parties, as he said, to be unburdened before the elections. He pointed on Friday, that he has no intention of revoking his decision.
