President Gjorge Ivanov called for national reconciliation in his joint interview Thursday with editors of national televisions.
"I call on all parties, and all people with good intentions, all those who have gotten their status in this society, to help in reconciliation. I accept all initiative to start a process of mutual reconciliation. Firstly, Macedonians with Macedonian, and then all that we have not achieved so far, Macedonians with Albanians, with Turks, Vlachs, Roma. We have no other alternative but to live. Our ancestors had created customs and habits and by practicing them they made Macedonia an example for multinational and multi-religious life. That is our fortune, that is our capital," President Ivanov said.
Only successful people, Ivanov pointed, can take society out of crisis.
"All societies focusing on success - succeed. Therefore, the elections are an opportunity for citizens to award the successful, to punish the unsuccessful, to punish all who had created this image for Macedonia to the world, or were involved in crime or corruption, for whom the international community had to get involved to help to clear it up. But this cannot be abused, not before elections. Let elections pass, a long period is before us, a period when all of us will figure out their wrong activities and decision we had made, and find a way to fix them. This is a great test, not for the country, but for all of us living in Macedonia," Ivanov said in the interview.
