The Chamber of Commerce of Northwestern Macedonia says that due to the political crisis in the country, businesses are suffering major losses with small- and medium-sized enterprises being hit the most.
Institutions are facing obstacles whereas foreign partners have fears when it comes to resumption of cooperation and investing.
"Instead of committing to finding a solution to the situation, political stakeholders are more concerned about their personal interests. It isn't easy to say who is to blame, however everyone should bear accountability and needs to behave seriously and to make long-term decisions," said Nebi Hoxha, president of the chamber of commerce.
As a result of the political uncertainty, the Chamber is expecting in the medium-term to see economic stagnation unless urgent, effective measures are taken.
Economic regress could be also possible, according to Hoxha.
Businessmen say that any high ranking of the country in terms of its business climate in such circumstances cannot be valid because the perception of foreign companies is quite different.
Moreover, the Chamber of Commerce of Northwestern Macedonia calls on President Gjorge Ivanov to revoke his decision granting abolition to politicians, otherwise 'he could destroy all the democratic principles in the country'.
