For two days in a row, Macedonia's capital has been experiencing violent protests and gatherings, mostly comprised of participants opposing the current government and opposition supporters. During the protests, government property was destroyed and the policemen have been under constant attacks. Yet, the opposition party SDSM, never once called for dignified and peaceful protests.
Protesting is a usual practice in democratic societies, but political parties, whether ruling or not, are those that need to appeal for non-violent protests. That is something that was never heard from the SDSM party, which is in fact the instigator of protests against the current government.
SDSM's leadership, with Zoran Zaev on top, even showed up to protests before the Government building when the protesters pelted the institution and policemen with eggs.
What is happening in the country resembles events in Ukraine, when the peaceful protests turned violent with the opposition in charge and transformed into an extremely violent event with deaths among the demonstrators and the police. In one of his guest appearances on TV, Zaev even announced that a Ukrainian scenario is being prepared for Macedonia.
"What was announced on TV by the criminal Zaev in a directed interview, was realized by the raging SDSM crowds and Soros on Wednesday night on Skopje's streets. Without a trace of shame or worry about the future, the criminal zoran Zaev clearly stated that the stage is being set for a Ukrainian scenario in Macedonia, the same scenario which was communicated and announced by Verusevski and other creators", VMRO-DPMNE reported.
The outcome of the Ukrainian unrest led to things such as: a divided state, tens of thousands of people dead and a destroyed economy.
While local politicians do not seem to appeal for non-violence, and easing of tensions, EU enlargement commissioner conveyed a message that stated the crisis should be settled politically and without violence.
"Call upon all political parties and responsible citizens to refrain from acts of violence. It is the parties' responsibility to return to the negotiating table", Hahn said on Twitter.
The aftermath of Wednesday's violent protest resulted in the arrest of 13 people, one journalist being injured and one injured photographer. The National office of the President was demolished and the Justice Ministry building was damaged.
The Sector of Internal Affairs in Skopje reveals that after questioning the suspects, it will determine the what they will be charged with.
The protests on Wednesday were organized by the civil initiative 'I Protest" in order to protest the President's decision to an end to a flurry of criminal charges issued against politicians and their supporters from both parties in Macedonia.
Another protest for the same cause was also held in front of SDSM headquarters, and 10,000 citizens asked for responsibility from Zoran Zav and Zoran Verusevski in regards to the Coup affair, i.e. they want Ivanov to retract his decision and not allow them to be amnestied. The protest lasted about an hour and it was peaceful, without violating the public order.
