Turkish authorities have arrested 5 persons for insulting President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, BTA reported.
The five men of the southern province of Sanlifura have been accused of insulting the President on social media. A sixth person had been arrested as well, but he was released shortly after.
The events of insulting Erdogan have become more frequent after him being elected in August 2014, which according to his opposers is a sign of his authoritative behavior.
Over 2,000 court procedures have started in Turkey, against journalists and artists, as well as common citizens. The punishment in those procedures are mostly limited to probation.
