In response to the sharp criticism from Athens due to the "excessive" use of force during Sunday's migrant incidents, Macedonian authorities have said it is Greece's responsibility to introduce order and respect of the law in Idomeni camp, reads French daily "Le Monde".
The daily says Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras has accused Macedonians of "shamefully" repelling hundreds of migrants who wanted to cross the border by force, as well as of using tear gas and rubber bullets.
According to "Le Monde", Skopje has denied these claims, with the Foreign Minister urging for increased cooperation with the police and the Greek authorities, along with information sharing in order to discourage violent events.
In addition, the paper refers to the poor relations between the two countries due to the name issue.
"The latest border incidents have only rekindled old tensions", underlines "Le Monde".
