This year the Days of Macedonian Music festival, organized traditionally by the Macedonian Composers' Association-SOKOM, will offer 11 concerts in 16 days, beginning on Wednesday.
Thirty tree compositions, 14 of them signed by Macedonian authors, will have a world premiere. The festival will also offer lectures and workshops.
The festival, aimed to promote Macedonian music at home and abroad, opens with the 'Sound of Macedonia' concert of ' Martin & PER EX Orchestra at the Macedonian Opera & Ballet.
The Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra will close the event on 14 April with a concert honoring the 80th birthday of prominent composer Aleksandar Dzambazov, festivals' program selector Jana Andreevska told a press conference on Monday.
The festival will mainly feature domestic chamber orchestras and several foreign guests-German pianist Steffen Schleiermacher (1 April); US Mivos Quartet (6 April) and Slovenian guitar player and composer Nejc Kuhar. Schleiermacher and Kuhar are also scheduled to give lectures within the project "European Contemporary Composers'.
The festival is crowned with presentation of traditional SOKOM awards for life achievement, best premiere work and most successful public performance of Macedonian composition.
