An 18-year-old teenager, who was under the influence of alcohol and did not posses a driving license, hit a cyclist from Ohrid who suffered heavy bodily injuries, broken skull and brain hemorrhage.
The injured person had to undergo a surgery due to the seriousness of the injuries and is now staying at the hospital where he receives further treatment.
According to the spokesman of the Interior Ministry's sector in Ohrid, Stefan Dimoski, the accident occurred on Sunday night, around 10:20 pm.
"The traffic accident took place when Lj.K., aged 48, who drove a bicycle on the street, was hit by a Yugo carrying Ohrid license plates. The car driven by M.M., aged 18, hit the back of the bicycle with its front right part, which was driving in front of it in the same direction," Dimoski informed.
The injured man, with fractures on his skull and on the remaining parts of his body, and who was severely bleeding, was taken to the surgical department of the Ohrid hospital. The doctors kept the patient for further treatment.
The test that was performed on the driver showed he had 0.70 permilles of alcohol in his blood.
"The person was immediately excluded from traffic and it was concluded he did not own a valid driving license, while the vehicle was technically out of order," Dimoski added.
