Thousands of migrants which are stranded at Idomeni camp tried to forcibly cross the southern border line and enter into Macedonia, local media reported. The situation escalated Sunday morning when buses that were to transport the refugees to Greece's interior arrived at Idomeni.

A group of about 500 migrants, frustrated by the fact that they have to leave the camp, started towards the Greek-Macedonian border line and commenced throwing rocks at the Macedonian policemen which were deployed along the border fence as soon as the disturbances started.

According to RT citing Greek media, the migrants were given pamphlets with instructions to massively start towards the border in order to cross it. "Today we cross or we die' were the words the migrants were chanting while they headed towards the border, RT reports.

It was also reported that there were 500 migrants who tried to forcibly cross the border and not a 100 like Greek media reported.

According to reports, tear gas has been used to disperse the crowd.

Last month, EU reached a deal with Turkey, who agreed to take back all of the migrants sent back from Greece. In return, EU promiced to take in Syrian refugees from Turkey. According to statistics, over 1 million migrants and refugees entered the EU in 2015, most of them from Syria.
