Macedonian Association of Journalists (MAN) on Tuesday announced that it supports the proposal of the amendments of the Law on audio and audiovisual media services that the Macedonian Media Association (MMA) submitted to the Parliament.
"Simultaneously we estimate that the AJM and Naser Selmani continue to work for the party agenda of SDSM through Peter Vanhoutte, and propose a censoring media law", a statement from MAN said.
Five journalists and media organizations on Monday in the Parliament have submitted the proposal of the European mediator Peter Vanhoutte for urgent amendment to the Law on audio and audiovisual media services.
The proposal from the Association of Journalists of Macedonia (AJM), the Independent Union of Journalists of Macedonia (SSNM), Macedonian Institute for Media (MIM) and the Institute of Communication Studies (IKC), as stated by the President of the AJM, Naser Selmani, is a good base for an introduction to the media reforms in Macedonia.
However, according to the experts, it is this law which the facilitator Vanhoutte stands for, that will greatly jeopardize the right of journalists to report freely. The law proposes, that in the Council of the Agency of the media to enter people from the NGOs that are associated with Soros.
VMRO-DPMNE, MAN and the association of the five national TV stations see no need for a new law, and the proposal of the SDSM and AJM is not applied in any country of the European Union.
