
Feature animated children's film "The Kid Made of Sugar" has gotten support for development of the sub-program of Creative Europe - MEDIA, specializing in development, distribution, and promotion of film and audiovisual arts in Europe.
Skopje Film Studio informed that the film has been described as 'universal, timeless children's story, with original and attractive premise and strong dramaturgic potential'.
"The Kid Made of Sugar" made it among the 56 selected films out of the 356 that applied in November of last year, when Macedonian productions had the opportunity to apply for the first time.
"The Kid Made of Sugar" is produced by Skopje Film Studio, written by the novel "The Sugar Story" by Slavko Janevski. Igor Ivanov is the director of the film, and Tomi Salkovski is the producer.
The project has already been promoted on several significant film markets and festivals such as Riga Meetings (Riga, Lithuania), Cannes Film Festival (Cannes, France), EAVE (Skopje, Macedonia), Euro Mediterranean Coproduction Forum (Lecce, Italy), Cinekid (Amsterdam, Netherlands), CoCo East West Coproduction Market (Kottbus, Germany), and Berlinale (Berlin, Germany).
Apart from MEDIA, "The Kid Made of Sugar" has also been supported by the Film Agency of Macedonia, and the SEE Cinema Network that has approved the project development support.
The film is coproduced between Macedonia and several European countries.
The shooting is scheduled for spring of 2017.
