Young writer Petar Andonovski officially received the 'Novel of the Year' Award, traditionally presented by Utrinski Newspaper, at the Daut Pasin Hammam in Skopje on Wednesday.

He was awarded for his second novel - 'The Body One Should Live In'.

Academician Luan Starova, who was the president of this year's jury and who won the award in 2015, said Andonovski's novel was deemed the best in terms of quality out of the 39 works in total, which have applied for the prestigious prize.

Starova reminded the present of the author's first novel, 'Eyes the Color of Shoes', which was also selected as one of the best narrative productions in 2013.

According to the jury: "Andonovski clearly testifies he is an author who independently performs at the Macedonian literary scene".

The president of Media Print Macedonia administrative board, Dr. Srgjan Kerim, said Andonovski has his own trail deeply rooted in the Macedonian literary creation, recognizable for its skilfully interwoven psychological and philosophical narrative elements.

Media Print Macedonia Executive Manager, Jana Stanisavljeva, presented the laureate with a statuette, the work of sculptor Saso Sazdovski, whereas Utrinski Newspaper's editor-in-chief, Sonja Madzoka, bestowed him with a plaque.

Eurolink insurance company, who is the sponsor of the award, presented Petar Andonovski with a check of MKD 150,000 via its representative Irena Popovska-Krpac.
