A taxi driver from Veles has died after a horrific traffic accident on Tuesday morning, involving a collision between a car and a truck.
The man who was a taxi driver of a Chevrolet Matis carrying Veles license plates died on the site from the sustained injuries, Telegraf.mk's correspondent says.
"The taxi driver was heading toward the town's smelter, and the truck was making a u-turn on the left. I can't imagine how the car driver didn't see such a big truck, it just hit directly into it. Due to the strength of the collision, the vehicle flipped 360 degrees, and it ended up in parallel to the truck," an eyewitness said.
Firefighters arrived at the scene of the accident, and were forced to cut pieces of the wracked car in order to get the driver out.
An ambulance arrived soon after and took the injured man, aged around 45, to the hospital.
"At 10:20 a patient was brought in who was hurt in a traffic accident, at the surgery department. Unfortunately, he was already deceased and could not be resuscitated. The truck driver was also admitted, he was under stress and appropriate therapy was given to him," said Dr. Petre Kodovski.
The horrific car accident was also confirmed by the Interior Ministry's sector in Veles. Officials have still not revealed the identity of the deceased person.
