Creative Europe Department of the Ministry of Culture will organize Culture info-day and workshop taking place Tuesday in Skopje to discuss better use of EU funds with respect to culture and creative activities is the objective of the Creative Europe.
Biljana Prentovska, representative of the Creative Europe Department, said Tuesday’s event and the workshop, set to be held on Wednesday, aimed at better informing legal entities in Macedonia interested in implementing projects in relation to culture, about ways for applying and make better use of European funds.
“Given the fact the Creative Europe program – Culture subprogram is the only EU instrument designed for the culture and creative sector, it means that all organizations that are registered legally and are conducting activities in culture can take part with their own projects and apply for this program. There are many criteria indeed, however a majority of them are transnational, i.e. co-production projects. Our organizations will have to find partners from other countries included in the program, over 40 countries, and to carry out activities of European significance,” said Prentovska.
Furthermore, Milda Lauzikaite, director of the Creative Ties organization in Lithuania, presented the Creative Partnership project at today’s info-day focusing on the criteria requested to be part of Creative Europe projects and the key priorities of the subprogram Media dedicated to the development of media.
She said the cultural and creative sector must conceive strategies so as to attract more visitors to cultural events.
As regards the use of Creative Europe funds, she said, Macedonia fares well in terms of literary translations and in the sphere of literature in general.
Asked about the extent of usage of EU culture funds, Prentovska said Macedonian organizations in the field of culture took part in 60 EU projects from 2007 to 2013. It has been registered that 23 organizations in Macedonia have been part of European co-production projects in the past couple of years alone.
