New British Prime Minister will be appointed no later than September 2, according to the plan announced on Monday by the committee responsible for the election of a new party leader, following the decision of David Cameron to resign.
"We recommend the procedure for selecting a new leader of the Conservative Party to start next week and be completed no later than 2 September", Graham Brady said, a chairman of the parliamentary group "Committee 1922".
He said that the selection of candidates should be completed by June 30.
The proposals must be approved by the entire committee.
Cameron announced he would step down from his position due to the results of the referendum, under which his people chose UK to leave the EU.
Since the Conservatives are in power, the party leader automatically becomes prime minister, TASS reminds.
