
The State Election Commission held Thursday the initial meeting of the Electoral roll's Working Group, attended by representatives of national and international institutions, political parties, embassies, NGOs.
"The SEC aims at creating a broader body and we are open for all remarks regarding the electoral roll. The remarks by political parties will be seriously taken into consideration", said Working Group chairman Atanas Urumov.
SDSM representative Damjan Mancevski said several specific issues have been agreed at the meeting, so that "SEC finds the strength to respect the law".
"This includes proper checkup of those people who, by law, should not be part of the electoral roll, but within a separate section of the registry", said Mancevski.
SEC representative Subhi Jakupi added the credibility in the Electoral roll is gradually coming back.
Besides VMRO-DPMNE, SDSM, DUI and DPA, the meeting was also attended by representatives of the ministries of justice, interior and foreign affairs, State Statistical Office, Office for management of registers of births, marriages and deaths, Secretariat for European Affairs, Directorate for Personal Data Protection, the United States Embassy, the EU Delegation, OSCE Mission, International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES), as well as NGOs MOST and CIVIL.
