The Criminal Council of the Organized Crime and Corruption Department within Basic Court Skopje 1 rejected Monday the appeal of the Special Prosecutor's Office (SPO) over the decision not to issue precautionary measures for suspects in case dubbed "TNT", but accepted the SPO appeal for suspects in case "Fortress".
"The council rejects as unfounded the appeal of the Special Prosecutor's Office in case TNT over the decision of a pretrial judge not to issue precautionary measures for three persons", reads a press release.
Case "TNT" focuses on the 2011 demolition of real-estate development by politically connected businessman Fijat Canovski.
"Regarding the SPO's appeal in case Fortress, the council has accepted the motion, thus annulling the pretrial judge decision to reject the SPO proposal over precautionary measures for four persons", says the press release.
Case "Fortress" tackles the illegal destruction of surveillance equipment in the UBK security and counterintelligence service of the Interior Ministry.
Following Monday's protest against the decision to issue a house arrest order for suspect Vladimir Taleski in SPO case "Transporter", the court says it is a democratic right of every citizen to voice dissatisfaction through peaceful protest.
"This court has condemned violent protests and attempts to threaten judges in criminal procedures", reads the press release.
Case "Transporter" investigates excessive payments for transportation of students in Bitola municipality.
