An award for extraordinary achievements will be allocated to the great Slovenian director Tomaz Pandur. The award will be given to his sister dramatist Livia Pandur before the performance of his last play 'Faust' at the Macedonian National Theater on June 24.
According to the Macedonian National Theater, the award will honor his lifelong achievements.
"Pandur was said to be the front-runner of the theater of the new millennium. His scene aesthetic was original and he left behind perfect examples of clean approach, perseverance, accentuated virtuosity and timeless magic in his work. He has been assessed as a theater alchemist, an explorer of new media and methods of actor play", the Macedonian National Theater report said.
The Macedonian National Theater pointed out that with the sudden loss of Pandur, the world theater lost one of the most influential directors of modern times, a massively creative man, a man with great potential and energy and a director with whom actors and collaborators enjoyed working with on every single project.
Pandur passed away recently, i.e. during a rehersal for the 'King Lear' play prepared by the ensemble of the Macedonian National theater. The play 'Faust' is Pandur's last theater piece, realized as a co-production by the Slovenian Drama SNG and the 63. Festival Ljubljana.
