Mihaela Angelova, bioinformatics PhD, received Thursday the 2015 Best Young Scientist award, presented by Macedonian President Gjorge Ivanov.
President Ivanov said the open call for the award always attracts scientists whose achievements cause difficulties for the awarding committee. "The creativity and achievements of our young scientists are a proof that we have enormous potential in all academic fields. Therefore, we should do everything so that young scientists find their place in education, institutions, companies", said Ivanov.
Angelova, 30, obtained her PhD in bioinformatics from the Innsbruck Medical University in 2015. She graduated and received her MA degree at the Skopje-based Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies.
"I believe the future of science lies in a multidisciplinary approach and dissemination of data, thus making science more available to the curious mind. Science goes hand in hand with curiosity, creativity and innovation, but also provides the possibility to contribute in society by facing the challenges in solving current problems", said Angelova.
The Best Young Scientist award, presented for the sixth year running, aims at recognizing the achievements of young Macedonian scientists.
