As of Thursday and until Sunday, temperatures all over Macedonia are expected to rise up to 40 degrees Celsius. Doctors recommend citizens not to expose themselves to direct sunlight, and to protect themselves.
Meteorologists inform that Macedonia will be under the influence of a hot air mass coming from south. A significant temperature increase is expected Friday and Saturday, and there is a possibility the entire territory will be exposed to temperatures of the so-called 'orange alert'.
The southeastern region will be exposed to a heat wave of the 'yellow (Be aware) alert'. This region includes Gevgelija, Kavadarci, Demir Kapija, Stip, Radovis, Strumica, and the nearby towns and settlements for which higher temperatures than usual are forecasted for this period.
The Ministry of Health addresses citizens to respect the general recommendations for protection of high temperatures: avoiding direct sun exposure, avoiding to stay out in the period between 11:00 am and 5:00 pm, to consume light food and more liquids, to pay more attention to hygiene when preparing food, and not to eat food that can go bad easily.
The chronically ill persons are advised to take their therapy regularly.
The sudden temperature changes can cause blood pressure swings, headaches, and migraines, can complicate diseases, and can have an especially bad effect to chronically ill, and elderly persons.
