
Film "Road to Istanbul" by Algerian director Rachid Bouchareb will launch the 9th French Film Festival in Skopje-based cinema Millennium on Wednesday.
The festival, held in Skopje and Ohrid up to June 18, is organized by the French Embassy and the French Institute, supported by the Ministry of Culture.
"Road to Istanbul" leading actress Astrid Whettnall is the festival guest. Elisabeth (Whettnall) lives with her daughter Elodie in Belgium. When the police inform her that her daughter has left the country to join the ranks of Islamic State in Syria, she begins to investigate.
The festival will also host Christian Vincent, director of film "Courted" that will close the festival, National Film Center (CNC) representative Julien Ezanno, and director of short film festival "Off-Courts", Audrey Billard.
The motto of this year's festival is "Diverse Cinematography". The program includes five other films in Skopje and three in Ohrid.
