Macedonia's State Election Commission has still not released official information on the results of the crossed inquiries launched in terms of revising the electoral roll, Telegraf.mk reads.
The authority has not uttered a single statement and no one is commenting why the entire process of the voters registry revision is late.
Unofficially, there are two different positions among the SEC members, and even fierce disputes regarding the final decision on one of the key matters in terms of holding the early parliamentary election.
What has been made known to the public is that the field checkups have been completed and that the final stage that entails entering the data obtained by the SEC interviewers in the electronic system is undergoing.
The field examinations were taking place until March 27, when 89, 000 suspicious voters, deemed inconsistent, were checked. Additionally, around 100,000 voters were re-examined via administrative methods. The results of this process are also unknown.
After the SEC determines whether and how many voters in the electoral roll are dubious, the state body is to hand over the results to the competent institutions and a new decision is expected to be reached on how to handle those.
The procedure on removing voters from the registry is very complex and it will be very difficult to erase a name from the electoral roll. First and foremost, firm evidence that the person's residency is disputed need to be provided, while the damaged individual has the right to initiate a legal procedure at the Administrative Court, which could last for months.
According to that, the chances of anyone being deleted from the electoral roll prior to the June 5 election are slim. The voters registry is to be made available for a public insight by April 17.
